Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies
Brown butter is one of my favorite ways to elevate a simple dessert, and these Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies are proof. The brown butter adds a rich, nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the brown sugar and chocolate chips, creating blondies that are soft, chewy, and full of flavor in every bite. If you're a fellow brown butter fan, this is a recipe you'll want to save.
Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies
Prep: 30 minutes | Bake: 25-35 minutes | Total: About 1 hr
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste or extract
2 cups all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Prepare the Pan
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
2. Brown the Butter
Add the butter to a saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter, stirring occasionally. Continue cooking until the butter begins to foam and brown specks form on the bottom of the pan. The butter should smell nutty and fragrant. Remove from the heat immediately and allow it to cool for 10–15 minutes.
3. Make the Blondie Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined.
Add the eggs and vanilla, whisking until smooth and glossy.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4. Bake
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Bake for 28–35 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
5. Cool and Serve
Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang.
Cut into squares and serve.
Storage: Store blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
Tip: For bakery-style blondies, reserve a handful of chocolate chips and sprinkle them over the top of the batter before baking. This gives the finished bars a beautiful presentation and extra chocolate in every bite.
