Gender Reveal for Baby #2

Finding out the gender of your baby is such a joyful and surreal moment. For both Luke and baby #2, Jake and I chose to find out intimately—just the two of us. We ordered a cake with colored frosting tucked inside, and after putting Luke to bed, we sat down together, held our breath, and made the cut.

I love discovering the news this way. I’m a one-on-one kind of person, and getting to process something so personal with just Jake means the world to me. There’s something really sweet about holding that little secret between just the two of us—letting it settle into our hearts before we share it with anyone else.

Leading up to our reveal, I went back and forth constantly—some days I felt sure it was a girl, the next I was convinced it was a boy. But Jake? He never wavered. From the moment we found out we were expecting, he just knew. He was the same way with Luke—so steady and sure.

And sure enough, on April 30, we cut into the cake and saw the blue frosting—another sweet baby boy.

We were both immediately filled with joy. Being a boy mom has changed me in the most beautiful ways. I grew up with three sisters, so this world of mud puddles, toy trucks, and endless energy has been brand new to me. But God, in His perfect love and wisdom, knew just what I needed. Luke is the joy of my life—fun-loving, full of energy, and always ready to laugh. He’s just like his daddy in the best ways. My mom says he lives in the “pink puffy clouds,” and honestly, I’ve needed that lightness in my life. He reminds me to slow down, laugh more, get dirty, and find joy in the little things.

So to find out we’re having another little wild one—it felt like the biggest blessing. Jake has two brothers, and their bond is so special. We’ve always hoped Luke would get to experience that too. A built-in best friend, a partner in adventure. Luke gets a brother. Jake gets another future hunting buddy. And I get another love of my life.

Not long after, we gathered our families for a gender reveal celebration—something we didn’t get to do with Luke since we were living in D.C. at the time. It felt really special to be surrounded by the people we love as we celebrated this new little life God is entrusting to us.

We are so excited to meet our second baby boy in just a few short months—and even more excited to see Luke step into his role as big brother. What a joy it is to grow our family and to watch God’s plan unfold, one sweet chapter at a time.
