Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies have always been more than just a treat in our family—they’re a tradition, a little piece of comfort that never fails to bring a smile. My husband and I share a special love for them, and whether we're sneaking a bit of dough when no one’s looking, enjoying them warm out of the oven with a cold glass of milk, or grabbing one from the jar a couple of days later, they’re always the perfect sweet bite.
The classic chocolate chip cookie is undeniably one of the most popular desserts, but I think we can all agree that everyone has their own idea of what makes the perfect cookie. For us, we like ours a little thicker, with golden edges and that soft, gooey center that melts in your mouth. It’s the kind of cookie that satisfies no matter when you enjoy it.
Chocolate chip cookies have always been my personal favorite, too. Growing up, Friday meant pizza night, but just as important was the batch of chocolate chip cookies I’d be baking. I could recite the Nestlé recipe by heart at an early age. But as I got older, I started wondering—could I make a cookie that was just *my* perfect version? So, I began experimenting, testing different ratios, baking times, and ingredients. After countless batches I finally found the one that checked all the boxes.
This recipe has become a household staple. I bake these cookies for my husband at least once a week, and he’ll tell you they’re his all-time favorite. I’m so excited to share this with you, and I truly hope this recipe becomes a sweet little tradition in your home, too.
Who am I baking this for?
I make this recipe for my husband primarily, but I love to have a batch on hand whenever I am having guests over as well!
Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yields 24-36 cookies (depending on size of balls)
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup light brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 ½ cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until fully combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
3. Chill (Optional but Recommended):
For thicker, softer cookies, scoop dough into balls and freeze for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
4. Bake:
Place dough balls (frozen or fresh) on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart. Bake for 10–13 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are just set.
5. Cool:
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
